ETIRA publishes 'Guide to Clones' - Europe

ETIRA has published its ‘Guide to Clones’ to help resellers involved in remanufactured printer consumables.

 

ETIRA, the Brussels-based European trade association of the European toner and inkjet cartridge remanufacturing industry, warns resellers and distributors in Europe that trading newbuilts that infringe patents will cost them dearly.

 

ETIRA works hard against the flood of cheap newbuilt patent-infringing non-OEM cartridges from SE Asia. In February and March 2012, HP, Samsung and other OEM's launched serious legal action against resellers, distributors etc. across Europe who stocked newbuilt non-OEM cartridges that infringe OEM patents. And in July 2012, police raided a warehouse in Germany where workers fitted OEM labels on thousands of non OEM-cartridges. The owners will soon go to jail.

 

The "Guide to Clones" identifies the different types of cartridges present in the European marketplace today, and warns against pitfalls. The Guide is available in English, French, and German (Hungarian, Italian, Spanish and other languages to follow soon).
