FAQ

Selection of program and course

  1. According to the field of study we are in
  2. According to the line of work
  3. Choose a course that you think will help you develop and enhance your current career.

IRCC will ask questions like this, we have to convince them that we are on a “student visa”, not intending to move to their country, but we really want to go to develop our career, it is to study for Career Progression (so that IRCC does not think that we will use the student visa as a way to enter the country).

Consider the reasons for wanting to study in that field, what is the background, and what is the purpose of studying in this field, is it consistent with the work or what you are doing and what experiences have you had?

A: Yes, you can. However, since we are applying as a “Student Visa”, if we look at it from the perspective of visa assessment, if we go to study Downgrade / lower, study in a way that is not consistent, not reasonable, why do we have to study in Canada, the embassy may see that we are using a student visa as a document to enter the country. And recently, there have been more Thais applying to study in Canada.

Choosing the right course of study is therefore one of the key success factors for getting a visa.

But if we change our field of study, with reasons, motivations, and evidence to support why we should continue studying this field, why we should study in Canada, what benefits we will gain from studying this course, how will this study help us develop, and why we want to study now, if we can draw on this point, we may be able to pass.

A : Opening date for applications.

Most institutions open applications 11 months before the start of the semester, but some open 9-13 months before the start of the semester.

Closing date for applications

Colleges in Canada will close applications when they are full. Some popular courses may close applications in the first 3 days because the seats are full.

It’s first come first serve.

Master's degree

Should I choose to study for a Master’s degree or a Doctorate degree?Because spouses can apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit visa, they can work, and children can apply for a free education.

  • Bachelor’s degree, GPA 2.8+ or higher
  • Have at least 2-3 years of working experience in the field you are going to study.
  • English IELTS score 6.5+
    •  Or study language with ILAC (some institutes)
    • Or study language with ICEAP (some institutes)
  • Statement
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.2 million baht for a single visa application.
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.5 million baht for a student visa application or a spouse visa application.
  • Prepare to apply for a visa for a minimum of 2.8 million baht for a student visa application – spouse + 1 child.

  • Diploma / Post-grad

You can choose to study any program: Diplomą, Post-Grad, Master, depending on the Diploma and Post-grad profiles. Spouses cannot apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit = cannot work, but can apply for a Tourist Visa, and children can still study for free.

Diploma / Post-grad

You can choose to study any program: Diplomą, Post-Grad, Master, depending on the Diploma and Post-grad profiles. Spouses cannot apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit = cannot work, but can apply for a Tourist Visa, and children can still study for free.

Diploma is an associate degree program.

Use only a high school diploma to apply for a specific field of study. The study period is years (depending on the field). You can choose a field that meets market demand. It emphasizes practical work and is a course that is beneficial for actual work.

What qualifications are required to study for a Diploma?

Post-grad/Graduate Certificate is a postgraduate degree program.

Apply with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Duration of study: years (depending on the major). Most courses are for students who want to reskill or develop their knowledge to advance to a higher position in their work.

Studying Post-grad for 1 year requires a statement of 800,000-900,000 baht. Studying Post-grad for 2 years requires a statement of 1.5 million baht.

This is a rough estimate for one student, excluding dependents, and is estimated based on a minimum requirements from IRCC.

Co-op/Work and Study / Career Program

I recommend choosing to study Co-op / Work and Study / Career Program (all 3 of these are the same program, but there are many names for the program). I highly recommend it for new graduates or those who are looking for work experience abroad because the program is designed to meet the needs of finding yourself. It is a program suitable for new graduates who want to try working in the Working Industry, work to save money, and also study the language. Canadian

However, this program does not allow dependents and cannot apply for a work visa after graduation.

It is a program that provides students with half study and half work. It is recommended for new graduates under 28 years old. The price is quite cheap compared to other programs. It is suitable for those who want to gain experience, find themselves, collect profiles, and also get money from working.

  • You must obtain a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from the province where you studied first. So you can apply for a visa (more details by 31 March 2024)
  • No GPA grade limit
  • No English language score required
  • Statement for preparing to submit a visa 1.0-1.5 million baht for applying for a single visa

Applying for a visa

After receiving the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) or admission letter from the institution.

In evaluating a rejected case, the admin requests the following documents. We will evaluate case by case:

  1. LOA applied for last round
  1. Documents were rejected for visa
  1. All visa document packages submitted in the previous round
  1. Attached SOP that was rejected

Please send all documents to visa.isguide@gmail.com.

It depends on the institution. Some places may allow you to transfer immediately after completing your visa application. Some places may require you to study for 1 semester and then change in the next semester. This is because in recent years, IRCC and College have been strict about changing fields of study. Changing fields may make it seem like we are distorting the family’s information by changing fields. This may make it seem like we are distorting IRCC’s information. When more students do this, it may affect the reputation of the College/University.

Therefore, some institutions do not allow changes, but it must be in the next semester.

Next Term or Next Available Term is the next term that the program is open for or the term that the program is open for and the program is not full yet.

Normally, it is recommended that the primary student apply for a single student visa first, then apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit and follow up with the children. However, it also depends on the profile and needs of the student.

However, in the case of applying for a visa before passing the English language test, the spouse cannot apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit. The English language test must be passed first. If the main student has not passed the English language test, the dependent can only apply for a Tourist Visa.

Yes, you can if you choose to study additional languages in Canada.

You can fill out the ILAC application first, pay the application fee, then take the application to apply to the college and select the ILAC start date after the visa is approved.

However, in the case of applying for a visa before passing the English language test, the spouse cannot apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit. The English language test must be passed first. If the main student has not passed the English language test, the dependent can only apply for a Tourist Visa.

If you are not registered as married, you can apply as a Common Law Partner.

In the case of Common Law Partners who are not registered as married, additional documents must be presented as follows: All supporting documents of the Common Law Partner must be at least 1 year old and must be certified by a lawyer (any of these can be submitted. The importance will be explained in 1-3, 1 is the most important).

  1. Joint Account
  2. Life insurance and beneficiaries are common law partners.
  3. Property purchased jointly (if rented, it will not carry enough weight).

Other documents such as electricity bills or evidence of money transfers to each other, parcels with the same house number, post office, and room names can be submitted together with the three lists above, but cannot be used alone.

IS Guide has a lawyer to guarantee an additional 2,000 baht in legal fees if you use our lawyer.

Marriage registration does not require any additional documents (the embassy does not specify that the marriage certificate must be more or less than 1 year old, but if the marriage certificate is old, it will create more credibility).

Statement

Statement 2024 calculation

  1. Tuition fees, number of years of study
  1. Cost of living (based on the number of students and dependents) for the number of years of study

For example, 1 year of study for a single student without an accompanying person.

1.18,000 x1

20.635 x1

Total = 18,000 + 20,635 = 38,635 CAD or 1.0 million baht

For example, study for 2 years, submit a student + 2 dependents (total 3 people)

1.18,000 x2 (number of years of study) 2. 31,593 (according to the table for 3 people) x2 (number of years of study)

Total = 36,000 + 63,186 = 99,186 CAD or 2.56 million baht

Basically, the statement should be the money in the account.

But you can submit additional evidence such as funds, stocks, savings bonds, land title deeds, cars, condos, or other things. The one that will be the most important when submitting will depend on the liquidity of that evidence, such as stocks or funds that can be sold on the market when needed. It should be money in the account, mainly 70%.

I would like to add that if you apply for a student visa yourself, you should have your own statement. If you don’t have your own statement and only have your sponsor’s, you risk having your visa rejected.

I recommend putting your money on hold for at least 5 months before applying for a visa. For example, if you plan to apply in June, you should put 500,000-700,000 baht in your account in January. Put it on hold for now. Once you’re done, you can continue with your normal account activities.

Because if you put money in during March, April, May (in the case of applying for a visa in June), if it is a lump sum, larger than usual that goes into our account, we must show the source of the money, such as selling gold, selling land. But if the money has been in the account since January (more than 4 months after requesting a statement), we will not be asked additionally that there is an unusually large amount of money coming in. We can show a work certification + say that it is a saving when showing the source.

Master Degree / Master’s Degree

  • 2.2 million baht for a single visa application
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.5 million baht for a student visa application + spouse
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.8 million baht for a student visa application + spouse + 1 child
  • Prepare a minimum visa of 3.1 million baht for a student visa + spouse + 2 children.

Diploma / Postgraduate Diploma

  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.0 million baht for a single visa application.
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.2 million baht for a student visa application + spouse visa.
  • Prepare to submit a visa of at least 2.4 million baht for a student visa + spouse + 1 child.
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 2.6 million baht for a student visa application + spouse + 2 children.

Post-grad/Master’s degree

  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 1.2 million baht for a single visa application.
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 1.4 million baht for a student visa application + spouse visa.
  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 1.6 million baht for a student visa application + spouse + 1 child.
  • Prepare to submit a visa of at least 1.8 million baht for a student visa + spouse + 2 children.

Co-op/Work and Study/Career Program

  • Prepare to submit a visa application of at least 1.0-1.5 million baht for a single visa application.

All statements are submitted by both the sponsor and the student themselves. If there is a large sum of money in the statement in the past 4 months when applying for the visa, it must be shown where it came from.

For example, show a statement from January to April. If within the past 4 months, there is a larger sum of money than usual, such as 500,000 baht, you must show the source of the money, such as selling a house or other things.

But if you don’t have a large sum of money within the 4 months you applied, you don’t need to show additional documents (for example, if you have a lump sum of money on January 10, you can apply for a visa on April 11 without having to show the source of the lump sum).

If the student plans to apply for a spouse’s visa as well, when applying for the student visa, it is recommended to submit only the student’s statement. It is not recommended to use the sponsor statement of the spouse who plans to apply for a spouse’s visa, such as using the husband’s statement to sponsor his wife’s study.

For example, a follower sponsors a student. When the student applied for a visa, they used a statement to follow up. At this point, the embassy was confident that the student had enough resources to support them even though they did not work in the lese majeste industry because someone sponsored them. However, later, when they followed up, the person who used to be a sponsor let the student follow up with them. Therefore, the embassy was not confident that they had enough resources to support themselves and the student

If you are using a sponsor to cover expenses, you need to prepare three main documents:

  1. Proof of Relationship – This document confirms the relationship between you and your sponsor.
    • If the sponsor is a parent, a birth certificate can be used to establish the relationship.
  2. Source of Income – A document proving the sponsor’s source of income.
    • This can include a salary certificate or a company-issued income statement.
    • For other occupations, photos or other supporting evidence can be used.
  3. Sponsor’s Bank Statement – A four-month statement of the sponsor’s bank account.
    • Important – The last month’s balance must meet the minimum required amount.

No, you cannot.
When applying to a college, you must submit an English Requirement document (as per the institution’s requirements).
If you do not meet the required score, your application will not be accepted.

There are three ways to submit proof of English proficiency:

  1. IELTS – The required score depends on the institution and program. If the score does not meet the requirement, your application will be considered incomplete, and you will not be able to apply.
  2. Duolingo – Similar to IELTS, you must meet the required score for the institution and program. If the score is below the requirement, the application will not be complete.
  3. ILAC LOA – This is a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from ILAC for an appropriate duration of study. It guarantees that you will meet the college’s English proficiency requirements before starting your college program.

You have two options:

  1. Study at a college/university – You can enroll in an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) program and then continue directly into your college course without changing institutions.
    • Pros: You stay at the same institution throughout.
    • Cons: Higher tuition fees and limited flexibility if you want to switch colleges.
  2. Study at a language institute partnered with a college/university – For example, ILAC (International Language Academy of Canada).
    • You can complete your English course at ILAC and then transition into college without needing to retake IELTS/Duolingo.
    • Pros: Lower tuition fees, flexible learning options (online, hybrid), and the ability to change colleges.
    • Cons: You will need to switch institutions after completing the English course.

Yes, if you plan to study English in Canada.
You can first submit an application to ILAC, pay the registration fee, and then use the acceptance letter to apply for college. You can choose to start your ILAC course after your visa is approved.

However, if you apply for a visa before meeting the English proficiency requirements, your spouse will not be eligible for a Spouse Open Work Permit.

  • The primary applicant must meet the English requirements first.
  • If not, dependents can only apply for a Tourist Visa instead.

ILAC is the #1 English language school in Canada, and its results are accepted by many colleges and universities.

The ILAC test helps evaluate your English level and estimate:

  • How many more weeks of study are needed before meeting university requirements.

ILAC offers two learning formats:

  • ILAC KISS: Online learning available from anywhere.
  • ILAC On-Campus: Study at ILAC campuses in Vancouver or Toronto.

ILAC Course Pricing

  • Online ILAC: Promotional price $120 CAD/week (Regular price $150-180 CAD/week).
  • On-campus ILAC (Vancouver, Toronto): $315-350 CAD/week.

Additional Fees

  • Online application fee: $100 CAD
  • On-campus application fee: $190 CAD
  • Materials fee: $10 CAD/week (online), $20 CAD/week (on-campus)

It depends on your current English level.

  • You can use previous Duolingo/IELTS scores to assess your level.
  • If you haven’t taken an English test, you can use the ILAC Online Free Test for an initial assessment.

General Study Duration:

  • Diploma programs require Level 16
  • Post-Graduate Diplomas require Level 17-18
  • On average, each level takes 4 weeks to complete, but students are tested every 2 weeks, so the duration may be shorter.

There is no limit, but it is recommended to take it no more than twice for more accurate results.

Before starting the course, ILAC will also send a Cambridge Test for further assessment.

You can take the ILAC English Assessment Test for free.

  • Level 16 – Required for a Diploma program
  • Level 17-18 – Required for a Post-Graduate Degree
  • The test is timed at 30 minutes.

Assessing your English level helps in planning your studies in Canada.

Most colleges require a minimum level of English proficiency before accepting applications.
By testing your English beforehand, you will know:

  • Whether you meet the required level.
  • How many weeks of additional English study you may need.

Since ILAC is Canada’s #1 English language school, its pathway program allows students to transition into top colleges and universities without needing IELTS or Duolingo again.

If your English score is below the required level, your college application will be conditionally accepted (LOA with condition).

  • With a conditional LOA, you cannot apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit.
  • You can only apply for a Tourist Visa for dependents.

Once you meet the English requirements and receive an unconditional LOA, you can apply for:

  • Spouse Open Work Permit for your partner.
  • Visitor Record for your child (allowing them to study for free based on the main applicant’s visa duration).
  1. Passport copy
  2. Educational certificates (high school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or transcripts – all must be translated into English).
  3. Choose a study start date and slot.
  4. English proficiency test scores (IELTS/Duolingo). If you haven’t taken an exam, ILAC test results can be used.
  5. Personal details (email, phone number, address, emergency contact details).

All documents must be translated into English and submitted with a copy of the original.
